What is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing technique that originated in Japan. It is a healing technique that channels energy to help you feel more balanced and relaxed. The word “Reiki” comes from two Japanese words: Rei (universal or spiritual energy) and Ki (life force energy).  This life force energy flows through all living things. When it gets blocked or unbalanced, it can lead to physical or emotional issues.

In a Reiki session, the practitioner channels this universal energy into your body, either by lightly touching or hovering their hands over you. This helps restore balance, reduce stress, and promote healing in the body and the spirit. It is a gentle practice, often leading to feelings of deep relaxation, peace, and sometimes even emotional release.

Chakras are energy centers in your body. There are seven chakras running from the base of your spine to the top of your head. These chakras correspond to different functions, such as emotion, physical health, and your spiritual consciousness.
